We rebuild historic Jaguar engines to Standard Spec and Fast Road & Race levels of performance.
Our complete, standard spec engine rebuilds start with full dismantling, including removal of liners from the cylinder block and stripping of all components from the crankshaft.
Every component to be re-used is thoroughly cleaned, inspected and tested, then machined as necessary to return it to factory condition. Acid-cleaning is used to remove scale from the water passages and de-carbonise the cylinder head.
We replace a number of components with updated versions to increase reliability and reduce ongoing maintenance costs.
All our engines are tested, set-up on a dyno and finished to factory concours condition.
Upgraded parts will be fitted as standard in a small number of areas where these updates have been shown to increase reliability. In all other respects our standard rebuilds adhere to factory specs as per the original workshop manuals.
Cylinder blocks are machined and fitted with special ‘flanged type’ liners.
Flywheels are replaced with the new appropriate spec lip seal version and zero balanced to suit.
Con rods will be replaced with our new steel Sportsman rods.
Oil filter heads are converted to accept a spin-on filter.
We rebuild our engines in a scrupulously clean environment with meticulous care and attention to every detail.
The block will be bored/machined/prepped as necessary. Pistons, bearings, oil pump, timing chains, timing tensioner & dampers, seal, gaskets etc. will be renewed using only the highest quality components.
The crankshaft will be checked for straightness and cracks, reground for optimum bearing clearances and zero balanced.
The water pump and oil filter head are stripped & fully rebuilt to factory concourse condition. The oil filter head will be converted to accept a spin-on filter.
The cylinder head would also be welded (if needed) & re-faced to clean, then be prepared & rebuilt utilising all new valves, springs, tappets, bearings, re-ground cams etc, polished & painted as per original spec. Valve guides, seats, tappet guides are machined & replaced as new.
Your engine will be returned to you fully dyno tested with optimised ignition timing and carburation and finished to factory concours condition. Drop it in, connect it up and you’re ready to go.
